Shopping Spree

Sunday was my daughter’s 9th birthday, so I pretty much spent the week running around and getting things ready for her party. While out looking for supplies for her get together, I came across a few fabulous finds for my classroom. My first stop was Michaels. I couldn’t resist myself when from the corner of my eye I spotted… supplies As you’ve probably already figured out, I absolutely LOVE color! I find that bright colors make me happy and bring a smile to my face! So in the spirit of happiness, I’ve decided to bring C-O-L-O-R to my classroom theme this year. So the minute I spotted these trays work basketsI knew I had to bring them home. I plan on using these colored bins for my students to turn in their completed assignments. I’m planning on labeling them Reading/ Lang. Arts, Math, Content, & Extra Copies and placing them on the back counter. And that adorable watering can will sit on my window sill next to a vase of flowers. Isn’t it so cute? buckets I’m still not sure if I’m going to be keeping these buckets. You see I was only able to find 2 of them and I wanted 4 so that I could put 1 on each of the 4 groups in my room. I usually place a pack of crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, scissors and sharpened pencils in them for my students to share. It comes in really handy…especially during the first week of school.  Next, I found these ADORABLE thumbtacks! animals pins I won’t reveal just yet what my plans are for them, or the clear box behind them, but keep checking back because I promise to share within the next few days… Aren’t they too cute!!! My next set of finds come from Party City. Let me just begin by saying that I have never hung anything from the ceiling in my classroom. Part of the reason is that I am only 5 foot 1 and the ceiling has never seemed within my reach. The other reason is that I have always been under the impression that in my school we were not allowed to hang things from the ceiling. Well, last year I learned that this was NOT the case. So once I saw colored fans closeupthese adorable fan decorations  I decided that this was going to be the year that I hang something from my classroom ceiling. I have seen a few pictures of these fans around Pinterest and I really like how they look. Once I hang them up in my classroom I will post some pics.   Do you have any tips that I can use for hanging things from the ceiling?  XOXO,Melissa Signature

I bought fans too so I can hang them from the ceiling. Usually I tuck the ribbon or string under the ceiling board (we have those tiles that lift up). It works great! 🙂

Hi, Melissa! Great blog with great ideas! I know that some teacher stores sell a yard stick-like instrument that has a "claw" on the end of it to hang stuff from your ceiling. Just be careful! 🙂
