Quick and Easy to Make Earth Day Treat for Your Kids

With Earth Day right around the corner, I thought I’d share a quick and super simple no-bake treat you can make with your kiddos in honor of our beautiful planet.

The best part is that this recipe is so simple that even your kids can make it!

It’s totally flexible too, so if you’d like to use plain graham crackers instead of chocolate go on right ahead. Have fun decorating your bark with sprinkles, crushed up cookie crumbs, or your favorite candy.

Here are the ingredients you need to make a large tray of Earth Day bark:

  • a large cookie sheet  (Here’s one similar to mine that I found on Amazon- affiliate link)
  • 2 bags of white chocolate
  • 1 bag of each blue and green candy melts (you can also just use food coloring and dye some white chocolate instead)
  • 1 box of graham crackers
  • candy/ crushed cookies of your choice

First thing you need to do is place of layer of graham crackers on your cookie sheet. Make sure to cover the entire pan.  If you have to, cut up a few crackers.

Melt the white chocolate and candy melts. It’s easier if you just melt the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, but since I don’t have a microwave (insert crying emoji here please- shocker I know). Since I don’t have a microwave, I have to heat it up the old fashioned way… Over a bowl of simmering water. (use your microwave folks)

Trust me, if you have the microwave do it that way. Simply heat the chocolate on medium high for 1 minute  to start. Remove from the microwave and stir. Then just keep reheating it at 20 second intervals, stirring in between, until it is completely melted.

Here’s where the fun begins!

Dump… and I mean dump the white chocolate over the graham cracker base and begin spreading it with a spatula. Continue spreading until you’ve covered every single bit of the chocolate cracker base.

Next up is the colored candy melts… Just spoon some dollops of the blue and green candy on top and with the back end of a skewer just make swirls. There’s no right or wrong way to swirl… just have fun at it!

Then softly toss… yep toss it… might as well have some fun right… Toss the M&M’s over the tray of yuminess! Once you’re happy with you’re design just softly tap each M&M to make sure they sink into the melted chocolate. (You want to make sure they’re going to stay where you’ve placed them.) Then place you’re tray in the fridge for about 10 minutes for the chocolate to set.

Lastly, break up your bark into chunks and try not to eat the entire plate. Trust me, it’s that good!

This quick and easy to make Chocolate Bark recipe is a great way to celebrate Earth Day. It's sure to be a hit with the kids and is so simple that anyone can make it! Beware, once you try it you won't be able to put it down!

Pin for later

Once you’ve tasted the bark, let me know what you think… I’d love to hear about your kids reactions! Was it everything I told you it would be?
